DT Swiss Proline (Bossard) Spoke Head Washers - 13G

Play between the spoke elbow and the flange will lead to fatigue and premature breakage of spokes, when subjected to long term loads. Wheelbuilders prevent this by using spoke head washers to tighten the fit between the spoke elbow and the flange. The use of washers can have many positive benefits in reducing spoke fatigue and improving the long-term service life of the wheel.

As a general rule we recommend using spoke head washers when:

1. There is tactile play between the spoke and the flange hole.

2. Where the size difference between the diameter of the flange hole and the spoke is ≥0.4 mm.

3. When building e-bike hub motors, which typically have flange holes of 3 mm or greater.
