Park Tool Clamping Spoke Holder – CSH-1
The Park Tool CSH-1 Clamping Spoke Holder is designed to prevent both round and bladed (aero) spokes from twisting during wheel building. This prevents the common problem of spoke wind-up or twisting. The tool is also useful for general wheel truing, especially when working with seized spokes and nipples. The CSH-1 uses a cam mechanism to clamp the spokes and has 20 mm parallel jaws. The soft edges on the jaws prevent any marring or scratching of the spoke. The narrow profile of the jaws (13 mm in thickness) allows the tool to be easily moved between tight gaps, including difficult to access high spoke count wheels such as 36-spoke BMX wheels. The tool is relatively light-weight (210 grams) and its handles are soft and ergonomic, making this tool easy to use and less prone to causing hand fatigue. The CSH-1 can be used with regular spoke wrenches, however to gain the full benefits of being able to clamp the spokes directly above the nipple, we find that this tool works best with spanner style spoke wrenches or head-driven nipples.
