Pillar TG-Hex 13G Brass Nipple – 14 mm - Silver
Pillar’s Taper Grip (TG) hex nipples have a mechanical thread locking system, designed to keep spokes in place as they are being tensioned. The upper portion of the TG-Hex nipple head has threads that are tapered inward, this prevents nipples from vibrating loose and reduces the need for adhesive thread lockers.
Notes on use:
Pillar’s TG-Hex 13G nipples require a 6.0 mm hex driver (e.g. Super B’s Hex 6.0 mm Internal Spoke Wrench) to adjust spoke tension from the inside of the rim cavity.
Use of a round spoke holding tool will make wheel building easier.
Please note that external rim holes need to be greater than of 8.2mm to allow a 6.0mm Hex tool to fit inside the rim cavity.
TG-Hex nipples are not recommended for use on extremely shallow double walled rims as the nipple head dimension may extend past the external spoke holes.
Note on spoke lengths
When using Pillar’s TG-Hex 13G nipples, we recommend adding a minimum of one millimetre to your standard spoke lengths calculations. This will ensure the nipples have maximum thread engagement within the nipple head and utilise the mechanical thread locking mechanism.
